Invasion of the Not Quite Dead Coming 2023

Rhiannon Elizabeth Irons

It's been fifteen years in the making, but the time has finally come. Invasion of the Not Quite Dead is coming in 2023.

This independent feature from filmmaker Antony D. Lane first made waves trying to raise money through his own website before launching a campaign on Indiegogo which saw a rise in backers, crowdfunding Invasion's way to production status with a promise to deliver on something contrasting.

For many, the project seemed dead in the water after several years of 24-hour, no-sleep streams to crowdfund with little to show for it. Some backers pulled their support and took to social media to spout disparaging remarks about the production and those who continued to support it.

This negativity did take its toll on Lane, who has been very open about his mental health struggles. What started as a dream project quickly turned to a nightmare. Invasion went from a comedy-horror to a dark, gritty tale that deals with loss, abandonment, mental health, and suicide. A socially 'woke' film, Invasion grew as its surrounding circumstances changed.

Admitting in a recent Facebook post, Lane stated he was afraid of letting anyone see the film for a long time because he made the film too personal. It took him four years to edit, chipping away at the original 3-and-a-half-hour runtime. It was during this time that life took some unexpected turns for Lane, causing him to put the project on hold again.

Stepping away from social media to focus on getting the movie out there, Lane found himself getting a clearer head to focus on making the best picture he can. Afterall, Invasion is his first feature, a fact that many seem to forget.

Fifteen years is a long time to work on a movie. But while some people walked away, I never did. I have a personal soft spot for Invasion. As a backer since the beginning, I do have an executive producer credit to my name. As an entertainment journalist for the best part of the last thirteen years, I can ensure my opinion is unbiased, despite my involvement. My integrity with my work is top priority so when I say Invasion of the Not Quite Dead has been worth the wait, I genuinely mean it.

Returning to social media Halloween 2022, Lane dropped a trailer for the movie on Facebook. And now, I bring it exclusively to you.

Synopsis: Sam Peterson returns home after 15 years to find all is not "well", nor what it seems in his hometown. Stars: Neal Ward, Frank Jakeman, Justin Hayward, Nina Stratford, Martin W. Payne, and Marc Zammit.

Invasion of the Not Quite Dead is coming 2023.
